The Lazy T Farm
The Lazy T Farm
There is something about following in our ancestors' footsteps that is inspiring. Whether it be our Indian forefathers or our own father or grandfather, knowing that we are walking a path that has been trod before invokes simultaneous pride and humility.
Many of my fondest memories involve my father and/or the children I have fathered in a hunting or fishing situation. I have also been able to share these experiences with dear friends as well as brothers in spirit. There is no earthly price that can be placed on such moments.
Any fair chase situation presents the potential for seeing game - or sometimes just spending a day in the woods. As we all know, seeing game and taking game are two distinctly different events. The preparation involved in learning both your game and your weapon and becoming conversant with both requires time and energy. I find it extremely gratifying to make a killing shot and harvest game. Spend a minute to savor each situation and also to learn from any mistakes. It will only heighten your sense of accomplishment on the next trip. Personally, I try to use a part of any kill - whether it is as food, skin, feather or fin. This completes the circle for me and makes me more wedded to the experience.
Good Hunting!
